Battle of the Bidassoa

The British win their first foothold on French soil. Wellington launched a surprise assault which easily overran the French left flank that had been left lightly defended as Soult had hoped that the river would have been enough. In the center, his army also won through the French defenses, though his Spanish allies were repulsed in one attack.

Battle of Nivelle

After the Allied siege of San Sebastian, the allies were in hot pursuit of Marshal Soult. The British army was ordered to attack and the 3rd Division split Soult's army into two. By 2 o'clock, Soult was in retreat resulting in the loss of another battle on French soil.
