Communard At HMS Britannia

The Torquay Times reports that the french professor on HMS Britannia had been a Captain in the French cavalry during the siege of Paris. He joined with the Communards during the Commune of Paris, who made him a general. He was wounded during the final fall of Paris, but was able to hail a cab to take him home before escaping to Britain.

Bombed
Sep 1942
Six Focke-Wulf aircraft bombed the College. Two bombs had penetrated the College's main block, causing damage to the quarterdeck and surrounding rooms. After this the students and staff move Eaton Hall in Cheshire.
Charles De Gaule is given the college buildings for the French government in exile, with many French resistance fighters going through Dartmouth thanks to the gunboat flotilla that operated from it.

Britannia is used for training Ratings as well as Officers during the Covid lockdown period in order to allow for more social distancing during training. The first group passes out in August, making them the first time that Ratings and Officers had trained together.
